The two year training at the RDTC has given 12 countries of English Speaking Africa 110 graduates capable of advising Governments and Universities about all matters pertaining to the skin as well as themselves setting up programmes of Skin Care.

Courses in Wound care and training material have been provided to this Centre by The International Wound Healing Foundation. The leprosy component of the programme includes foot care and rehabilitation .The two purpose built Operating Theatres have been utilised for courses in Reconstructive Surgery. There are annual courses on the management of Lymphoedema with reference to Lymphatic Filariasis.

The RDTC practices and researches the utilisation of Traditional Medicine such as Honey for Pressure Sores. There is a purpose built “Fly Laboratory” for Larval Debridement of Wounds.

The large Albino population in the region brings to the centre advanced cancers of the skin requiring reconstructive surgery.

Visitors with expertise are welcome. They need to plan their visits 6-12 months in advance to fit in with the Curriculum and Housing Availability.

Funding ( A total of $150,000) for improvements in inpatient facilities (a dedicated Ward) and for a Burns Unit are urgently Needed.
