The role of evidence-based medicine in improving wound care. Understanding the scientific basis of wound healing. The role of age and other factors in wound healing. Latest assessments, treatments and management guidelines for: leg ulcers (arterial and venous, mixed aetiology, understanding pathophysiology, intermittent compression therapy). Diabetic wounds (differential diagnosis, prevention, education, bacterial and fungal infection control, and new antimicrobial dressings). Pressure ulcers (classification and management, pressure redistribution, care of skin, prevention and treatment of heel ulcers). Practical management of acute, fungating and chronic wounds. Utilisation of computers and telemedicine in wound care. Pain management, pharmacological and mechanical techques including dressings. Topical negative pressure for different wounds types based on clinical evidence and experience. Wound bed preparationwith special focus on surgical and biosurgical. Treatment and management of lymphoedema; nutritional aspects of wound healing. Wound care in developing countries. Hands on interactive clinical workshops.
